How to Add Social Media Accounts to Google Search Console Platform Properties
Learn how to add Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube accounts to Google Search Console platform properties, what reports become available, and how to use the data for modern SEO.
To add social media accounts to Search Console, open Google Search Console, choose Add property, select a supported platform, verify or authorize the account, then open the new platform property. Google currently supports Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube, with each account or channel added as its own Search Console platform property.
Google announced platform properties for Search Console on July 7, 2026, giving creators, publishers, and brands a way to see how social and video content performs across Google Search surfaces.
The feature is rolling out gradually, so you may not see the option in your Search Console account yet. Google documents the setup flow in its Search Console platform properties help page, and The Verge covered the launch as part of Google’s broader effort to report reach beyond standard websites.
What Are Google Search Console Platform Properties?
Google Search Console platform properties are a new property type for tracking supported social and video accounts in Search Console.
Instead of only verifying a website domain or URL prefix, you can now add certain social accounts and video channels as standalone properties.
Supported platforms are Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube.
Each account or channel is added separately. Your YouTube channel, TikTok account, Instagram profile, and X account each become their own Search Console platform property. If you manage multiple YouTube channels or multiple Instagram accounts, repeat the setup for each one.
How to Add Social Media Accounts to Search Console
1. Open Google Search Console
Go to Google Search Console and sign in with the Google account you want to use.
Use an account that has access to your brand’s Search Console properties and permission to connect your social or video accounts.
2. Open the Property Selector or Add Property Screen
In Search Console, open the property selector from the sidebar. You can also go directly to the Search Console welcome or add property screen.
Choose Add property.
3. Choose the Supported Platform
Select the platform you want to add: Instagram, TikTok, X, or YouTube.
If you do not see these options yet, the rollout may not have reached your account.
4. Follow the Verification or Authorization Prompts
Search Console will guide you through the platform-specific verification flow. This usually means signing in, confirming ownership or access, and authorizing Google Search Console to connect to that account or channel.
5. Go to the New Platform Property
After verification, Search Console should show a confirmation message. Choose Go to property to open the new platform property.
6. Wait a Few Days for Data to Appear
New platform properties may show empty charts at first. Google says it can take a few days for data to appear after setup.
7. Repeat for Each Account or Channel
Repeat the process for every supported social account or video channel you want to track.
- Your main YouTube channel
- Your brand Instagram account
- Your TikTok account
- Your X account
- Any separate creator, product, or regional accounts
What Reports Become Available?
Performance Report
The Performance report shows how your selected platform property performs across Google surfaces where applicable.
You can review clicks, impressions, average click-through rate, average position, queries, and individual posts or content that drive traffic.
For example, you may be able to see which Google searches led users to your YouTube videos, Instagram content, TikTok posts, or X posts.
Insights Report
The Insights report gives a higher-level view of recent trends. Use it to understand which content is performing well, how people discover your account on Google, recent traffic changes, and top-performing posts or videos.
Achievements
Achievements track growth milestones. Search Console may surface click-based milestones when your content reaches a new level of visibility from Google Search.
What the Data Means
Platform property data helps you understand how your social and video content appears and performs on Google.
- Clicks: People clicked from Google to your platform content.
- Impressions: Your platform content appeared on Google.
- Queries: The searches people used before seeing or clicking your content.
- Posts and content: The specific videos, posts, or profile content receiving visibility.
- Traffic from Google surfaces: Data may include Google Search and, where applicable, Discover or Google News.
If a YouTube video appears in Google Search and someone clicks it, that can count as a click in Search Console. If content appears but is not clicked, that can count as an impression.
What This Does Not Measure
Search Console social media accounts do not replace native platform analytics.
Platform properties do not show all in-platform views, likes, watch time, follower growth, saves, shares, comments, or engagement from inside Instagram, TikTok, X, or YouTube.
They are specifically for understanding how your content performs on Google. Use them alongside native analytics, not instead of them.
Why This Matters for AI Search and Modern SEO
Search is no longer limited to traditional website pages.
Google increasingly surfaces content from social platforms, video platforms, forums, publishers, creators, and brand-owned sites. For modern SEO, that means your discoverability depends on more than your domain.
Platform properties help connect part of that picture. They can show which social and video assets are being discovered through Google, which topics are creating search demand, and which profiles or posts support your broader search presence.
For AI search, this matters because brand consistency across the web is becoming more important. Your website, YouTube channel, Instagram profile, TikTok account, and X account should reinforce the same entity: the same brand name, expertise, topics, and audience promise.
This does not guarantee AI Overview visibility. It gives you better visibility into how Google is finding and sending users to your non-website content.
Before You Add Your Accounts
- Consistent brand name across your website and social profiles
- Matching profile images or logos
- Website link added in social bios
- Social profile links added on your website
- Clean YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram handles
- Recent useful content on each account
- Clear profile descriptions that explain what the account covers
- Public content where appropriate
- Access to the correct admin or owner login
- A plan to review the data after setup
Best Practices After Setup
Check the Performance report after a few days. Look for queries that reveal how people describe your brand, content, category, products, or expertise.
Compare platform data with your website Search Console data. If your YouTube videos rank for educational queries but your website does not, you may have an opportunity to create supporting blog posts, guides, or landing pages.
Also watch for mismatched intent. If people find your Instagram or TikTok content through searches that do not match your offer, tighten your profile copy, captions, video titles, and linked website pages.

Practical Next Step
Once your platform properties are live, compare them with your website Search Console property. Look for repeated topics, branded searches, and questions that appear on social or video before they appear on your website.
